Pastor Cherian P. Cherian

CHURCH PLANTER & PASTOR EMERITUS

Pastor Cherian P Cherian was born and brought up in a small village called Chengara, Kerala, India, where he completed his public school, college, and theological education. At the age of ten, he accepted Jesus Christ as personal Savior. Soon after, obeyed the Lord in water baptism, and in 1972 was filled with the Holy Spirit.

After completing his Bible college studies, pastor Cherian served in ministry for seven years in India planting a church, team ministry, and pastoring. In God’s perfect timing, he came to the US in 1979 and worked at Cardone Industries for approximately nine years.

By God’s grace, in 1980 he began leading the Philadelphia India Christian Assembly, a church of Indian, Malayalee, migrants from Kerala, India. The Lord blessed the ministry. Many souls were added, and the church continued to grow. For about 25 years, the Lord graciously used he and his wife Saly for the growth and edification of this congregation.

In 2006, the Lord led them to take responsibility for the newly founded Pentecostal Church of Philadelphia, where they faithfully served until 2015 when he transitioned as the pastor emeritus. Even today, they continue to worship and serve the Lord in this church. Truly, God has been faithful and righteous in every step of his ministry journey.

After marrying his beloved wife, Saly Cherian in 1981, the Lord blessed them with three sons, Benjamin, David, and Josh, who are all married and serving the Lord with their families currently. God has blessed pastor Cherian and Saly with five wonderful grandchildren. They are very joyful seeing all their children walking in truth, worshiping in spirit, and serving the Lord. They give all glory and honor to God alone for His grace and faithfulness through their life and ministry.
